Who We Are

We are Pack Robotics at NC State, a robotics club that competes with other universities in an international tournament style program. VEX-U challenges students at a collegiate level to design, build, and program two robots to compete against other teams in a points based game. Building a robot of this level is a highly collaborative effort which requires a variety of skill sets. Students in our club are free to pick one or more sub-teams to join, where they will learn from seasoned members, gain hands-on engineering experience, and contribute to the process.
Meet Our Teams!
Our Build Team is responsible for decisions regarding the physical robot design. From planning the drive train, to designing the intake, build team determines how components come together and constructs prototypes. Addtionally, build team is responsible for designing and fabricating custom components for the robot. Our build team is very hands on, and no prior experience is neccessary to join.Â
Our programming team specializes in coding the bot’s controls, movements, odometry tracking, color sorting, and anything else our bot should be capable of. Programming team works in close communications with build team to bring ideas to life. Programming is also responsible for making sure autonomous requirements are met. No prior experience is required to join, however, experience with C# is highly encouraged.
To qualify for certain awards, our team must have meticulously documented our design process throughout the season. This heavy responsibilty falls to our notebook team. They organize pictures, data, and meeting notes from build team and programming team into a coherent design notebook that will be submitted to the judges at competitions.Â
